Digital Marketing 2017: Top 100 Influencers To Follow
The area of digital marketing is an ever-changing and fast evolving field. Following and tracking the right thought leaders in this space is therefore especially important. New insights, strategies, tools, and tips can be helpful for the neophyte or more advanced digital marketing practitioner alike.
For me, while I suggest following thought leaders within the space in order to learn new insights and perspectives, I also think is important to use these individuals as a resource to learn more on what is happening and what has yet to happen in the in space.
I also think it behooves one to take in this information from a variety of diverse views of seasoned industry experts. I have therefore developed a list of the Top 100 Influencers To Follow and hope my readers find this list useful.
The individuals are not necessarily the best in the industry but certainly the individuals whose insights have been in my view the most meaningful or prescient. In particular, individuals who keep active blogs and social media posts and have a large and active audiences. Moreover, these are folks who have earned credentials in the industry and make a presence (and often keynote appearance) at some of the top digital marketing seminars and conventions.
The individuals who have made my list are also those that tend to publish prolifically in industry publications. Their websites are usually replete with relevant and helpful information for other digital marketers and there is generally and advanced level of knowledge in some facet of digital marketing, whether it is social media, search engine optimization, blogging, marketing automation, email blasting, etc.
Be warned, most of the individuals provide good information in their own personal blogs or social media post and generally have informationally helpful websites, but they still maintain many of their unique digital marketing tools and strategies to themselves as part of their own intellectual capital base.
Therefore, I never expect them to provide their full intellectual suite of ideas and strategies in the form of the free information they release publicly. However, in my mind, a leading influencer is still providing large amounts of high quality content to the industry in the hopes of elevating the field and industry overall.
Many top digital marketing guru’s reserve the full totality of their information for engagement work or consulting for their high paying clients. While I can understand the need for these individuals to be compensated well, my belief is they still have an obligation to the industry to make meaningful and productive contributions.
Certainly, while this helps and encourages others within the space, it also helps amplify their brand and inspire new thinking. These are the kinds of people who made my Influencers list. For those individuals or digital marketers that prefer to hide behind their veils of incomprehensibility, while I can appreciate their interest in sharing only with “paying clients”, they are not the kind of folks who are really shaping or influencing the field at a higher level.
I hope this list is helpful to my readers. Certainly, these individuals have sites, blogs and active social media accounts for you to seek out but also look for their names in conventions or seminars near you or for their articles in publications like Techcrunch, Entreprenur et al.
